How many bodies does Diva need to go through before she gets her frequent die-er miles?

Well, thread over, this is the best take.

Is it really to give "superpowers" to Diva ? I suppose it depends if the body is still alive, and not just some dead meat marinating in a jar for thousands of years.

This procedure would yield double benefits : deny the body to Sand and whatever was her purpose with it, and staying alive.

It makes sense.. Given that there is no mind in the body there would, in theory, be no issues with integration like there was with Ragini..

Added Bonus of being in a "Godess' body"..Can't hurt

True, though her body will look exactly like Diva'ratrika, minus the hair style and clothing. Ragini was young, so Diva was a young Diva'ratrika, but Sharess may have been truly ancient....

The downside is.... Sharess is probably 2000 years old for all we know. With needing so much mana, being in Chel at this point could kill her eventually

She could also be ten times that.

Chel has, what, 700,000 drow living there by now, down from 1,000,000? That would certainly be more than enough considering that truly ancient queens travelled with mere armies to stay alive (5,000-20,000?)

Of course, it could be a population/area, but even then, Chel is pretty compact....

During the Moons Age there were not only the dokkalfar population but also entire forrests pruducing mana, not forgetting a lot of other vegetation also able to produce mana. All that is gone today. There will be a lot of work to reintroduce manaproducing plants again. So for Divaress to survive, Chel might not be enough.

Bu who doesn't want to se Captain Dokkalfar roaming the caverns and sky?

So denying the enemy the body by using it it save herself. Not the worst plan.

And yet this turn of events may be interpreted as the Goddess's return by some drow despite how it's playing out.

Nah. Only a handful of people know about the body, and upon possession, the body will look just like Diva'ratrika (it already would resemble her anyways, being close family among inbred nobility). Okay, gems and hairstyle will remain, but who's going to remember that detail besides injured POW Ash'waren?

While we know the Chelian nobility were interbred we dont know if Sharess & Diva were. Its entirely possible that Diva and her Aunt (possibly great aunt at that) dont look much alike facial feature/stature wise. That being said, it took Diva a very long time to "remake" Rags in her image. Now thats partially because she had to eat her soul, but its also really likely that some degree of time is required to "properly" change a body to look more like its spirit. ... AND while they've been pulling them down right and left, Sharess was depicted as statues carved into every convenient space and pillar throughout Chel for a 1000 years. If she suddenly showed back up rocking Diva's level of wizardry, followed by Sillice it will look like the Goddess has come back to save the Sharen. I dont know about you, but if Zeus suddenly showed up in the center of town and started tossing around lightening bolts and seducing babes I could make a fair guess who he was(vs say, Thor), regardless of thinking of him a mythological bunch of bullshit created by a long dead culture.

Hell, even if Diva immediately turns back into looking like Diva, she did rule the Chelians for hundreds of years as the leader of a theocracy and is presumed dead. Shit would get all sorts of religiously wonky just from that alone -perhaps even more so.

That's all well and good until some jerk blows off his magical, supposedly immortal head with a shotgun.

That's pretty much what Divara'trika would be up against. Sure, she'd be a powerful caster with an ancient aura, but she still has the same feeble mind, she'd be a huge nether-magnet, and has recently had some real bad luck with pointed sticks.

Feeble mind? If Diva has the sand to kill herself to take over Sharess, Im pretty sure she's gonna stop playing misses nice gal. She was a warrior once upon a time. Pissed off, she's so formidable that no one would take her on directly. Now, Kern is should we say, careful about making his characters super uh, human? So no, she wouldnt be invincible by any shakes. However Chel is an absolute mess. If Diva (or Sharess) shows up there's a huge chance the masses, and in the case of Sharess - most assuredly the Kyorl, would unite to help her take over in pretty much a heart beat. Im also pretty certain Zala will capitulate immediately, and more or less all the other other remaining Ill'haress' as well because hey, this is the rightful ruler of Chel and/or the 2nd coming of their savior. Its hard to stab somebody whos knee deep in worshipers/armed guards.

And thats assuming Diva makes a big production of it. She could just as easily con Kiel & Sillice into rescuing Ariel and get rid of her enemies via stealth. Diva was after all very fond of covert violence. Im guessing alot of hilarity would ensue because Kiel and Sillice arent exactly good at it though *wee*
