Well, partially true, but here is a good question, does Kel have a foci that would allow him to perform Metal Sorcery?

Sang was a beast against a siege golem, but she played to her own strengths. If Kel can use Metal Sorcery would she even be able to lay a finger on him?

As someone who knows he is going to die, and with nothing to lose, I think Kel will be more than able to pour all he can into a metal foci, overwhelm Sang's own Metal Sorcery and use it to turn Sang into a quadriplegic again at the cost of his life. And just like that the mirage of strength she was trying to project on herself vanishes.

I suggest changing "Look to my would be challenger, he is defeated, let alone be able to stand." to "Look at my would-be challenger. He can't even stand, let alone defeat me." or maybe "Look at my would-be challenger. He can't even stand, let alone stand up to a challenge." if you are the mood for some wordplay. Either way, the term "let alone" always has to be followed by something more unlikely than what is mentioned before it.

Huh, so Sang's grasp on the chel Sarghs isn't as strong as she'd hope. Which could explain a fair bit of what she's doing. As long as Ariel is just out and about doing who knows what, everyone will doubt whether Sang's the REAL leader of her faction or just a placeholder 'til Quain's true heirs arrive. And if we're feeling charitable, she and her family have been thoroughly disillusioned of Quain's family through the combination of shit completely collapsing after Quain's death and then Machike going (unknowingly) full radio silence on Chel. It's also possible that they saw what affect the memory of Quain and doubt in the current head had when Koil tried to keep things going and apparently died. The mere existence of Quain's heirs became a poison to anyone trying to bring order to the Chel Sarghs and defeating the little wolf would be the only way to put that to rest.
That's just my current Sang-charitable theory anyway. I still hope Koil is around if nothing else.

This could turn out pretty well if best case happens and Kel wins though. Kel gets to lead instead of facepalming over whoever he's advising, Chel gets its first male leader of a clan and Ariel finally gets to go adventuring without putting the clan's future at risk.

Agreed, it reads a little awkwardly as is.

Oh now Sang is in a no-win position here.

If she refuses the duel, she will come across as a coward who only talks big while hiding behind others, and her faction will turn on her.

If she accepts, and wins, she will just have beat up a guy that, by her own admission, "could not even stand." (Her face at the end indicates that Kel is standing, albeit barely).

If she accepts and loses, then she's really going to be up the creek without a paddle because it means she's a weakling who's only ruling the clan by stealing the strength of others.

Well played, Kyo'nne. Well played indeed.

Maybe we are all wrong about this. Maybe Sang is a tsundere who is in love with Kel. She might not be scared of Kel, but actually realizes she cannot win the duel because she is unable to actually hurt the man she loves! Give her some babies Kel!

I think it's time for a hack to eject Sang's artificial limbs during the fight. }:3

Kel'noz DID have some decent foci earlier today, but he tossed them all to distract the lewd demon tentacles. Thus, he has only light affinity and melee to work with. Not good.

Even if he did still have the foci, Sang could rebuild her metal limbs immediately afterwards, see that Kel's dead, and declare herself the winner. Or perhaps she also has foci inside her limbs. I would...

Kel'noz was knocked out, not ran 100 miles. As a matter of fact, he has had quite few minutes of sleep, so he should be as fresh as a daisy now, I kid. He's only speaking slowly because he's yawning and wants his cup of morning coffee. :P

What's with the grammar fail in this update? 2nd panel and 2nd-to-last panel both have issues.

2nd panel's problematic because I don't understand what was meant. Is that on purpose? Depending on what's missing it could be either,

"Kel'noz Val'Sarghress, [I] challenge you..."

"Kel'noz Val'Sarghress challenge[s] you..."

Is this ambiguity part of Kyon'ne's theater, or is it just author-derp?

Maybe they went back to the clan right afterwards, to spy and provide information for Kel'Noz on the state of the clan. They're the clan's ninjas afterall.

Or they thought their presence was needed to maintain the peace... And they failed. Yet, they didn't forsake Ariel, and are now trying to help, albeit not openly like we would be hoping Ariel's former babysitters to do : sword in hand, side by side with their lil' pup.

While Myo'na and Jiv'kyn were to escort Ariel to Machike (presumably by Rosof's orders), they did have their duties to perform back in Chel.

Junglefowl26 wrote:Also, I wonder what Kel has up his sleeve. He lost to her earlier and is in worse shape now, so I don't think this will be a straightforward fight. But unless Kel has a self-destruct power, I am not sure what he can do...but I know he is planning something.....

The concept of precedence. By accepting the challenge of a dead dog like him, a challenge by Ariel is absolutely necessary to accept. Were Sang to accept Kel'noz's challenge and deny Ariel's, the whole Clan would implode upon her.

As for his plan, he's been in full "sacrifice mode" since Mablevi stabbed him, so there's reason to assume that his own soon-to-end-anyways life is the only card he has left to play - and play it he will.

Likely author-derp. There's a fair number of them floating around, but fixing them is a pain that will probably have to wait until the comic is completed.

Well to be fair, all groups need greater organization and ability to settle disputes as they grow in number. The Val system, though deeply flawed, did have certain conflict resolution strategies worth appropriating.
